June 23, 24, 25, 2017
10:00 - 4:00
Jeanette Jobson Fine Art, Flatrock, NL
Animals become such an important part of our lives and capturing their likeness on paper keeps them close. Whether you have a bird, a horse, dog or cat, the information in this workshop will provide you with the information you need to accurately draw your pet.
This three day workshop breaks down animal portraiture into steps that allow exploration of each element that makes up the form. Workshop concentration will be on the development of techniques and observation skills used to create a realistic animal portrait in graphite.
What will you learn?
DAY 1
Basic Animal anatomy (cat and dog)
Observation skills in drawing
Seeing values and shapes
How to draw an animal eye and differences between cat and dog eye structure
How to draw an animal nose and differences in shapes and textures
DAY 2
How to create realistic fur texture and indicate colour values with pencil
How to start a drawing
How to ensure you never run out of room on your paper
How to measure and check proportions to achieve accurate placement of features and ensure a likeness
DAY 3
Based on knowledge and skills learned in Days 1 and 2, you will prepare a line drawing of the animal of your choice and work, under guidance, towards a finished drawing.
Who should attend?
Basic drawing skills are a prerequisite and participation in the Introduction to Classical Drawing or similar workshop or some previous drawing experience is recommended. Beginner artists can, however, benefit from the information and experience in drawing a human face.
Light lunch and refreshments included
