Painting with Palette Knives
Going Large with Seascapes
Two day workshop 10:00am - 4:00pm
November 18 & 19, 2017
Painting expanses of water and the border of land or rock that touches it, holds a fascination for many. On a small scale it can be challenging and on a large scale it can provide a dramatic impact. Painting on a larger scale, especially with a knife, loosens painting technique and allows room for personal expression. Values and shapes are enlarged and the knife becomes easier to manipulate at the increased scale. The result can be realism or abstraction. The direction you take is your choice.
This workshop concentrates on exploring painting water and land with a palette knife on a larger scale that you may be used to. A minimum canvas size of 24" x 24" is recommended for this workshop.
This workshop is recommended for artists with previous experience in painting with a palette knife or artists currently using a brush who want to loosen their style. Oil paints will be used to demonstrate in this workshop, but participants may use acrylics if they prefer.
